Harry Potter Theory: Houdini

Warning: Possible spoiler alerts for the first Harry Potter book – not a big spoiler.

Harry Potter is Connected to Harry Houdini

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about this theory for a while now. Here’s the idea: J.K. Rowling got the idea to give Harry Potter the first name of Harry because of Harry Houdini. After all, Harry Houdini was one of the greatest magician ever, if not the greatest. If would only make sense that J.K. Rowling named her main character in a magical book series after a great magician. Another connecting between Harry Houdini and Harry Potter is a very important date: October 31 (Halloween). To Harry Houdini, that’s the day he died. To Harry Potter, that’s the day his parents died and Voldemort lost his powers for the time being. So, as you can see, J.K. Rowling may have gotten some of her ideas from Harry Houdini. This theory has not been confirmed, but it does make a lot of sense.
